Die Dargestellte trägt ihr lockiges Haar offen und darüber einen aufwändigen, federgeschmückten Hut. Über die Schulter liegt ein weißer Spitzenstoff. Am unteren Darstellungsrand befindet sich der Name des Fotoateliers Hahn Nachfl. Dresden mit einer Datierung auf 1909. Darunter befindet sich die Nummerierung 401. Es handelt sich um eine Postkarte aus dem Verlag der Gebrüder Schelzel Dresden.

Minnie Nast zählt zu den großen deutschen Opernsängerinnen des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Nach ihrem musikalischen Studium am Badischen Konservatorium in Karlsruhe machte sie ihr gesangliches Debüt 1897 in Aachen. Sie begann eine erfolgreiche Karriere, die sie unter anderem auf die Bühnen in Kanada, den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, Russland, den Niederlanden und Großbritannien führte. Bis 1919 sang die Sopranistin regelmäßig in der Semperoper zu Dresden. Danach lehrte sie bis 1945 Gesang in Dresden. Minnie Nast ist für ihre munteren und leichten Verkörperungen von Soubrettenrollen, vor allem in Mozart-Opern, bekannt. Eine herausragende Leistung erwies sie am 26. Januar 1911 als sie bei der Uraufführung von Richard Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier die Rolle der Sophie sang. Durch erhaltene Tonaufnahmen kann man noch heute ihre klare und bezaubernde Stimme erleben.
