Sehr schönes Porträt des Hugo Grotius (1583 Delft-1645 Rostock), politischer Philosoph, reformierter Theologe, Rechtsgelehrter und früher Aufklärer. Ein Jurist, den man auch heute noch Vater des modernen Völkerrechts nennt und den Begründer des klassischen Naturrechts. Sein großes Buch “De Iure Belli ac Pacis (Über das Recht des Krieges und des Friedens) wurde die Grundlage der Völkerrechtsordnung – und blieb sie bis heute. - Datierung: 18. Jahrhundert

Very nice portrait of Hugo Grotius (1583 Delft-1645 Rostock), political philosopher, reformed theologian, jurist and early Enlightenment philosopher. A jurist who is still called the father of modern international law and the founder of classical natural law. His great book “De Iure Belli ac Pacis (On the Law of War and Peace) became the basis of the international legal order – and has remained so until today. - Date: 18th century
