- Bezeichnung: Unten rechts innerhalb der Druckplatte monogrammiert “M. B. Sc.”. Porträt des französischen Diplomaten und Juristen Hubert Languet (1518 Vitteaux bei Dijon – 1581 Antwerpen) im Oval. Der Porträtierte ist im schwarzen Wams und mit Halskrause dargestellt, unten vor dem Sockel mit einem von zwei Leoparden flankierten Wappen. Languet studierte in Padua und Bologna und unternahm Reisen nach Italien und Spanien; ab 1559 auf Melanchthons Empfehlung Diplomat im Dienst des Kurfürsten von Sachsen; von 1573-1576 lebte er am Hof des Kaisers Maximilian II., den er auf seinen Reisen begleitete. - Zustand: Guter Zustand. Die Darstellung macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Das Blatt ist altersbedingt gebräunt und ganzseitig stockfleckig; entlang des oberen Randes leicht knittrig.

- Inscription: Monogrammed “M. B. Sc.” lower right within the printing plate. Portrait of the French diplomat and jurist Hubert Languet (1518 Vitteaux near Dijon – 1581 Antwerp) in an oval. The sitter is depicted in a black doublet and with a ruff, below in front of the base with a coat of arms flanked by two leopards. Languet studied in Padua and Bologna and travelled to Italy and Spain; from 1559 on Melanchthon’s recommendation he was a diplomat in the service of the Elector of Saxony; from 1573-1576 he lived at the court of the Emperor Maximilian II, whom he accompanied on his travels. - Condition: Good condition. The image makes a very good impression. The sheet is browned due to its age and foxed on all sides; slightly creased along the upper margin.
