Das vorliegende Blatt dokumentiert anhand der militärischen Karte, wie die Alliierten unter dem englischen Feldherr Marlborough 1710 im Rahmen des spanischen Erbfolgekriegs die französische Stadt Douai in Nordfrankreich einnahmen.

- Zustand: Guter Zustand. Das Blatt wurde einfach gefaltet in einem Buch befestigt. Davon zeugt die vertikale Knickfalte über die Mitte des Blattes sowie die rückseitige Klebespur. Das Blatt hat sich stellenweise altersgemäß verfärbt und ist insbesondere an den Rändern stockfleckig. Mit einer kurzen Quetschfalte am linken oberen Blattrand. Die Blattecke links unten ist beschädigt: diagonale Knickfalte mit abgerissener Ecke.

- Inscription: Inscribed in the upper left cartouche “The INCAMPMENT of the Allies Army to Cover the Siege of DOWAY against the French Army that came to raise the said Siege in June 1710”. This sheet uses the military map to document how the Allies under the English commander Marlborough captured the French town of Douai in northern France in 1710 as part of the War of the Spanish Succession.

- Condition: Good condition. The sheet was simply folded and attached to a book. This is evidenced by the vertical crease across the centre of the sheet and the trace of glue on the reverse. The sheet has discoloured in places according to its age and is foxed especially at the margins. With a short box pleat at the upper left margin. The lower left corner of the sheet is damaged: diagonal crease with torn corner.
