The sitter is Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent and Strathearn (1767 London – 1820 Devon), he was the fourth son of King George III of Great Britain, Ireland and Hanover and of Queen Charlotte. He was the father of Queen Victoria (the great-grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II).
