Wunderschöne Ansicht aus der vierzehnteiligen Serie der Ansichten von Griechenland und Italien, die Eugène Adler-Mesnard nach Vorbildern Wilhelm Kloses radiert hat und die 1880 im Kaeser Verlag erschienen ist. Die Veduten klassisch-antiker Stätten in Griechenland und Italien wurden als Wandgemälde in der Villa Klose in Karlsruhe ausgeführt und zeigen bemerkenswerte Altertümer und Bauwerke des Mittelmeerraumes in ihrer charakteristischen landschaftlichen Umgebung. In zumeist menschenleeren, kargen Felslandschaften inszenieren sich die imposanten Bauten zu unvergänglichen Kulturdenkmälern beinahe zeitloser Historizität.
Eine tiefe Schlucht und zerklüftete Felsen sind die stumme Erinnerung an den antiken Stadtstaat Sikyon, der in der Nähe von Korinth aund Achaia gelegen war.

- Zustand: Guter Zustand. Auf dem gesamten Blatt sind Stockflecken sichtbar. Entlang der oberen Blattkante befindet sich ein großflächiger Flüssigkeitsfleck. Entlang der Kanten und in den Blattecken leicht bestoßen. In der Darstellung sind rechts schwache Bereibungsspuren sichtbar. Die Darstellung macht darüber hinaus einen sehr guten und frischen Eindruck.

Wonderful view from the fourteen-part series of Views of Greece and Italy etched by Eugène Adler-Mesnard after models by Wilhelm Klose and published by Kaeser Verlag in 1880. The vedute of classical-antique sites in Greece and Italy were executed as wall paintings in the Villa Klose in Karlsruhe and show remarkable antiquities and buildings of the Mediterranean region in their characteristic landscape surroundings. In mostly deserted, barren rocky landscapes, the imposing buildings stage themselves as imperishable cultural monuments of almost timeless historicity.
A deep gorge and jagged rocks are the silent reminder of the ancient city-state of Sikyon, which was located near Corinth and Achaia.

- Condition: Good condition. There are foxing spots visible on the entire sheet. There is a large liquid stain along the upper edge of the sheet. Slightly bumped along the edges and in the corners of the sheet. Faint traces of rubbing are visible on the right side of the image. The image makes a very good and fresh impression.
