Von dem deutschen Kupferstecher Martin Bernigeroth (*1670 Rammelburg – 1733 Leipzig) stammen ungefähr 1600 Kupferstiche, darunter sind Porträts von Henning Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz (*1680), Römisch- und Russisch-kaisericher Geheimrat; Johann Christian Schamberg (*1667), Mediziner und Chemiker; Otto Mencke (*1644), Gelehrter für Moral, Philosophie und Politik. Wegen der dargestellten Persönlichkeiten bleibt sein Werk bis heute wichtig. Er ist der Begründer der berühmten Leipziger Kupferstecherfamilie, seine Söhne sind Johann Martin und Johann Benedict, die ebenfalls als Kupferstecher tätig waren. 1707 erhielt er den Titel eines Hofkupferstechers. Zu seinen Schülern gehören u.a. Christian Heckel und Johann Christoph Sysang. - Datierung: 18. Jahrhundert

- Zustand: Guter Zustand. Das Blatt ist altersbedingt gebräunt und in den Rändern sind braune Flecken festzustellen; Quetschfalte im oberen Rand. Die sehr schöne Darstellung wird hiervon nicht beeinträchtigt, sie macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Innerhalb der vierten Abbildung ist ein kleines Löchlein zu sehen.

The German engraver Martin Bernigeroth (*1670 Rammelburg – 1733 Leipzig) produced about 1600 copper engravings, including portraits of Henning Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz (*1680), Roman and Russian Imperial Privy Councillor; Johann Christian Schamberg (*1667), physician and chemist; Otto Mencke (*1644), scholar of morals, philosophy and politics. Because of the personalities portrayed, his work remains important to this day. He is the founder of the famous Leipzig family of engravers; his sons are Johann Martin and Johann Benedict, who also worked as engravers. In 1707 he received the title of court copper engraver. His pupils included Christian Heckel and Johann Christoph Sysang. - Date: 18th century

- Condition: Good condition. The sheet is browned due to its age and there are brown spots in the margins; box pleat in upper margin. The very beautiful illustration is not affected by this, it makes a very good impression. Within the fourth illustration a small hole can be seen.
