Darstellung der Hauptfiguren aus einem Märchen von Hans Christian Andersen. Dargestellt ist im Vordergrund der junge Georg, Sohn des Pförtners, und im Hintergrund die kleine Emilie, Tochter eines Generals, auf dem Schoß ihrer Amme. Georg ist es verboten sich Emilie zu nähern, ist jedoch stets für sie da. Im Laufe seines Lebens erreicht Georg Rang und Namen sodass er Emilie später heiraten darf.
Die Illustration stammt aus dem Nachlass des Künstlers, Illustrators und Kostümzeichners Erhard Klepper und ist das 16. Motiv aus einer Reihe von Märchenillustrationen zu Hans Christian Andersen.

Depiction of the main characters from a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. Depicted in the foreground is young Georg, son of the porter, and in the background little Emilie, daughter of a general, on her nurse’s lap. Georg is forbidden to approach Emilie, but is always there for her. In the course of his life, Georg achieves rank and name so that he is later allowed to marry Emilie.
The illustration comes from the estate of the artist, illustrator and costume draughtsman Erhard Klepper and is the 16th motif from a series of fairy tale illustrations on Hans Christian Andersen.
