- Beschreibung: bezeichnet rechts unterhalb der Darstellung “H. Winkles sculp.”, bezeichnet links unterhalb der Darstellung “F. Martin pinx.”, benannt “Sodom und Gomorra”. Von einem erhöhten, Standpunkt aus, erblicken die Betrachtenden im Vordergrund der Darstellung eine Figurengruppe, die mit ihrem Hab und Gut auf der Flucht zu sein scheint. Ein halb hingesunkene Rückenfigur hat im Bildzentrum die Arme erhoben. Der Grund hierfür erschließt sich den Betrachtenden im Hintergrund des Bildraums, wo Wolken und Feuer eine Stadtsilhouette zu zerstören scheint. Die Städte sind Sodom und Gomorra, Gegenstand einer Erzählung im Tanach, der zufolge sie durch Gott unter einem Regen aus Feuer und Schwefel begraben wurden, weil sie der Sünde anheimgefallen waren.

- Description: inscribed on the right below the depiction “H. Winkles sculp.”, inscribed on the left below the depiction “F. Martin pinx.”, named “Sodom and Gomorrah”. From an elevated vantage point, the viewer sees a group of figures in the foreground of the depiction, who seem to be fleeing with their belongings. A half-sunken back figure has raised his arms in the centre of the picture. The reason for this is revealed to the viewer in the background of the picture space, where clouds and fire seem to be destroying a silhouette of a city. The cities are Sodom and Gomorrah, the subject of a story in the Tanakh according to which they were buried by God under a rain of fire and brimstone because they had fallen into sin.
