The Zócalo is home to some of the country’s most important institutions, including the seat of the President of Mexico, the Cathedral of Mexico City, the Catedral Metropolitana, and the City Hall. The square, otherwise populated with numerous passers-by, is almost deserted in this depiction; the impressive façade of the cathedral dominates the image.
