- Beschreibung: Ausgezeichneter Druck: “The First Ear-Ring”. Wilkie malte seine erste Version dieses Themas 1821. Mehr als zehn Jahre später kehrte er infolge eines Auftrags des 6. Herzogs von Bedford darauf zurück. In dieser Zeit arbeitete er fast zwei Jahre lang an einer Reihe von Skizzen, um die Komposition zu erarbeiten und Details der Figuren zu sammeln; 1835 wurde das Bild in der Royal Academy ausgestellt.

Hervorragende Druckqualität; entlang des Plattenrandes knapp beschnitten, altersbedingt stellenweise stockfleckig, in der linken unteren Ecke der Darstellung mit Leimspur, im Rand links unter der Darstellung mit bräunlichem Fleck. .

- Description: Excellent print: “The First Ear-Ring”. Wilkie painted his first version of this subject in 1821, returning to it more than ten years later as a result of a commission from the 6th Duke of Bedford. During this time he worked for almost two years on a series of sketches to work out the composition and gather details of the figures; in 1835 the picture was exhibited at the Royal Academy.

- Condition: Very good condition. The image makes a very good impression. Excellent print quality; just trimmed along the platemark, foxing in places due to age, glue spot in the lower left corner of the image, brownish spot in the margin left below the image.
