- Beschreibung: Nach einem Gedicht von David Mallet: “Amyntor and Theodora: Or, the Hermit, a Poem in Three Cantos.” aus dem Jahre 1748. Die Szene spielt sich an einem felsigen Ufer ab, wo gerade ein junger Mann hinter einem Fels hervortritt, um auf eine junge Frau zu stoßen, die auf ihn zukommt; sie wird von mehreren Männern gestützt, von denen einige Bündel und Körbe tragen; rechts im Hintergrund ist der Mast eines Bootes zu sehen.
Unter der Darstellung signiert “T. Stothard R.A.pinxt. / P.W. Tomkins sculpt. Engraver to her Majesty”. Mittig darunter typographisch betitelt und links und rechts mit je einer Strohe aus dem Gedicht: “Slow as they mov’dm behold the train, / On either side supported, onward came, /Pale and of piteous look, a pensive maid; As one by wasting sickness fore assail’d, Or plung’d in grief profound – Oh, all ye powers!..To mock my hopes, it wears her gracious form.” - Schlagworte: Landschaft, Literatur, Großbritannien, Romantik, 1800-1849

- Zustand: Guter Zustand. Die Darstellung macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Hervorragende Druckqualität. Auf Unterlage aufgelegt, die unteren Blattecken sind abgerissen aber vorhanden, die oberen mit Einriss infolge der Montage; das Blatt ist altersbedingt leicht stockfleckig.

- Condition: Good condition. The presentation makes a very good impression. Excellent print quality. Laid down on backing, the lower corners of the sheet are torn but present, the upper ones with tear due to mounting; the sheet is slightly foxed due to its age.
