- Beschreibung: Henry Winkles gründete mit Carl Ludwig Frommel bei Karlsruhe das erste Stahlstichstudio in Deutschland. 1836 produzierte und illustrierte er gemeinsam mit Benjamin Winkles 1836 ein mehrbändiges Werk zu Kathedralen in England und Wales, welches Einfluss auf die britische Neugotik im 19. Jahrhundert hatte. Unter der Darstellung signiert, links: “Winkles” mittig darunter betitelt und bezeichnet “Theodor Hook / Binder’s artist Institut”.

- Description: Henry Winkles founded the first steel engraving studio in Germany with Carl Ludwig Frommel near Karlsruhe. In 1836, together with Benjamin Winkles, he produced and illustrated a multi-volume work on cathedrals in England and Wales, which had an influence on the British neo-Gothic style in the 19th century. Signed below the illustration, on the left: “Winkles”, titled and inscribed “Theodor Hook / Binder’s artist Institut” in the centre.
