Wohl noch in seiner Züricher Zeit begann S. Walch sein bekanntestes Werk, das von ihm herausgegebenen und mit einem Vorwort und Text versehene Buch mit 60 Porträts sämtlicher Züricher Bürgermeister von 1336 bis 1742. Die Porträts gehen auf Vorlagen, die Johann Caspar Füssli nach Originalen in der Züricher Stadtbibliothek zeichnete zurück und die Walch selbst und Valentin Daniel Preissler in Schabmanier stachen.

- Zustand: Guter Zustand. Das Papier ist altersbedingt verfärbt. Das Blatt ist blass stockfleckig. Entlang der Blattkanten bestoßen und vereinzelt eingerissen. Die Blattecken sind geringfügig bestoßen und geknickt. Die Darstellung macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Das Blatt weist Flüssigkeitsflecken auf, kleiner Rostfleck im unteren Rand; mit diagonalen Knickspuren in den unteren Blattecken. Kleines Loch mittig im linken Rand der Darstellung. In der Darstellung mit Haarabdruck, der bereits während der Herstellung entstand.

While still in Zurich, S. Walch probably began his best-known work, the book of 60 portraits of all the mayors of Zurich from 1336 to 1742, which he edited and provided with a preface and text. The portraits are based on models drawn by Johann Caspar Füssli from originals in the Zurich City Library and engraved by Walch himself and Valentin Daniel Preissler in the mezzotint style.

- Condition: Good condition. The paper is discoloured due to its age. The sheet is pale foxed. Bumped along the edges and occasionally torn. The corners are slightly bumped and creased. The image makes a very good impression. The sheet shows liquid stains, small rust spot in lower margin; with diagonal crease marks in lower sheet corners. Small hole in the centre of the left margin of the image. In the image with hair mark, which was already made during the production.
