Wohl noch in seiner Züricher Zeit begann S. Walch sein bekanntestes Werk, das von ihm herausgegebenen und mit einem Vorwort und Text versehene Buch mit 60 Porträts sämtlicher Züricher Bürgermeister von 1336 bis 1742. Die Porträts gehen auf Vorlagen, die Johann Caspar Füssli nach Originalen in der Züricher Stadtbibliothek zeichnete zurück und die Walch selbst und Valentin Daniel Preissler in Schabmanier stachen. - Datierung: 1756

- Zustand: Das Papier ist altersbedingt verfärbt. Das Blatt weist leichte Stockflecken auf. Entlang der Blattkanten vereinzelt bestoßen. Die Blattecken sind minimal bestoßen. Die Darstellung macht einen sehr guten Eindruck. Das Papier weist Knickspuren auf; im linken Randbereich blasser Flüssigkeitsfleck, bräunliche Farbflecken an der Blattkante oben links.

While he was still in Zurich, S. Walch began his best-known work, the book with 60 portraits of all the mayors of Zurich from 1336 to 1742, which he edited and provided with a preface and text. - Condition: The paper is discoloured due to its age. The sheet shows light foxing. Sporadically bumped along the edges of the sheet. The corners of the sheet are minimally bumped. The image makes a very good impression. The paper shows traces of creasing; pale liquid stain in the left margin, brownish colour stains at the upper left edge of the sheet.
