Das Borinage wurde zu einer Hochburg der belgischen Arbeiterbewegung. Als das belgische Parlament einen Gesetzentwurf ablehnte, der das allgemeine Wahlrecht eingeführt und damit auch den Borains eine Stimme gegeben hätte, begann im Borinage am 12. April 1893 ein Generalstreik. - Datierung: 1869

The Borinage became a stronghold of the Belgian labour movement. When the Belgian parliament rejected a bill that would have introduced universal suffrage and thus given the Borains a voice, a general strike began in the Borinage on 12 April 1893. - Date: 1869
